Masters by Research
In pursuing our mission of becoming a centre of excellence for business and management education, Islamic Business School (UUM IBS) currently offers the following programmes:
i. Master of Science (Islamic Finance) by research
ii. Master of Science (Islamic Banking) by research
iii. Master of Science (Management) by research in Muamalat, Islamic Management
The programmes are offered on a full-time and a part-time basis. Full-time students are to complete their study between 4 to 9 semesters, and those on a part-time basis shall complete between 5 to 15 semesters.
Masters of Islamic Finance & Banking by Coursework
MIFB (Islamic Finance & Banking)
Master in Islamic Finance and Banking (MIFB) programmes will be offered this coming September 2012 by Islamic Business School (UUM IBS). This programme is a course work based programme, developed to produce highly ethical and knowledgeable graduates who are responsive and efficient in Islamic finance and banking to fulfill national higher education aspirations and contribute to the industry and society. At the end of this course, students are required to complete a dissertation in their field of study that will further enhance their analytical, writing and communication skills.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Candidates who possess the following qualifications are eligible to apply for this programme:
a. A Bachelor’s degree from any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 3.00; and
b. Fulfill English Language requirement.
OR
a. Bachelor’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the University Senate with a CGPA of at least 2.75; and
b. At least two (2) years of relevant working experience or a good score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)/ Graduate Record Examination (GRE); and
c. Fulfill English Language requirement.
Note:
1. Applicants who do not meet any of the above postgraduate admission requirements can still be considered for enrolment upon recommendation by the Postgraduate Committee and endorsement by the senate. Applicant may be required to attend an interview.
2. 0.05 point will be added toward the current CGPA for each year of relevant work experience, if the Admission Committee believes that the candidates have the potential to be admitted. The adjusted CGPA should not, however, exceed the total CGPA of 3.75.

MBA in Muamalat by Coursework
MBA (Muamalat) programmes are currently offered by the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate Business School (OYAGBS) in collaboration with Islamic Business School (UUM IBS). This programme is a course work based programme, developed to produce graduates who are capable of integrating the acquired knowledge and skills in decision making and problem-solving, and at the same time are well equipped with Muamalat-based knowledge. At the end of this course, students are required to complete a dissertation in their field of study that will further enhance their analytical, writing and communication skills.
The MBA programme is offered by
coursework. Students are required to complete at least 42 credit hours which
consist of 30 credit hours of core courses and 12 credit hours of
elective/specialization courses.
A) MBA—general: students are
required to complete ten (10) core courses and four (4) elective courses from any
specialized courses listed below.
B) MBA—specialization: students
are to complete ten (10) core courses and four (4) elective courses from one of the
